Position Overview

As a Machine Operator, you will play a critical role in the implementation of Silveira Tech’s regeneration masterplan. You will operate a range of heavy machinery—including diggers (various sizes), tractors, forestry equipment and, if licensed, trucks—to support the creation and maintenance of infrastructure and landscapes on sloped terrain. This position is ideal for someone with a strong sense of responsibility, technical skill, and a desire to contribute to a pioneering environmental project.

 

The primary workplace will be in Aldeias da Silveira, but occasional travel and temporary stays in other areas of the region may be required. Activities may take place in various project-related locations, including other areas of Lousã and Aldeia da Cerdeira. We are looking for candidates with flexibility and availability to adapt to these possible changes.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate diggers, tractors, forestry equipment (forwarders, skidders), and trucks (if licensed).

  • Create new roads and maintain existing ones across the project site

  • Perform forestry mulching and land clearing.

  • Transport wood, materials, and equipment as needed.

  • Support hardscaping and construction projects.

  • Conduct regular maintenance and basic repairs on machines and tools.

  • Keep machinery, tools, and workspaces, and common areas clean and  organized.

  • Assist with the implementation of the Silveira Tech masterplan.

  • Follow all safety and environmental protocols.

  • Report mechanical issues promptly and assist with repairs when possible.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Valid machine operator license for construction, agricultural, or forestry machinery, and safety training

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Physical fitness for outdoor work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Truck license (Category C)

  • Experience in mechanics or welding

  • Previous experience in similar roles

  • Ability to communicate in Portuguese and English
